Pre- & Post-trip inspections

Whether you’re taking a road trip or hitting a dusty trail, checking your vehicle before you leave can make a real difference in how your adventure unfolds. At Uncharted Offroad, we offer free pre- and post-trip inspections for cars, trucks, SUVs, and 4x4s to help identify concerns before departure and assess wear or damage after you return.

Prepare for the Miles Ahead

An upcoming trip is a good time to address that unfamiliar noise, review maintenance needs, or get another set of eyes on your vehicle.

Tell us where you’re headed, how far you’re traveling, and whether you’ll be towing, carrying extra equipment, or driving off-road. We consider those details alongside your vehicle’s condition and service history.

If we identify a concern, we explain what it means and discuss appropriate options for your vehicle, budget, and travel plans. Scheduling before your departure leaves time to consider any recommended work.

Road Trip Inspections for Everyday Vehicles

Our pre-trip inspections are available for everyday cars and family SUVs as well as trucks and modified 4x4s.

Before a longer drive, we look for visible wear, leaks, and other concerns that deserve attention. We also discuss any symptoms you’ve noticed and maintenance that may be due.

You don’t need to know what’s wrong before scheduling. Bring us your questions, tell us about your plans, and we’ll help you understand the next steps.

Pre-Trail Inspections for Jeeps, Trucks & 4x4s

Heading off-road adds another set of considerations to trip preparation. We look at your vehicle’s existing setup with its intended use in mind, including relevant steering, suspension, driveline, and underbody components.

Let us know about recent modifications, repairs, or anything that felt different on your last outing. Those details help us focus the inspection and discuss concerns related to your setup.

Post-Trip Inspections: Check What the Adventure Left Behind

Once you’re home, a post-trip inspection is an opportunity to look for wear, damage, or developing concerns before returning to your everyday routine.

Tell us about any impacts, water crossings, unusual noises, vibrations, or changes in handling during the trip. We use that information to guide the assessment and look for issues that may be less obvious from the driver’s seat.

Even if the vehicle feels normal, checking accessible components after a demanding outing can help you plan maintenance before the next adventure.

What We Look For

The inspection is tailored to your vehicle and the concerns you bring us. Depending on its configuration and component access, areas we assess include:

  • Tires and wheels: Visible damage, tread wear, inflation, and spare-tire condition where accessible.

  • Brakes: Observable wear, visible leaks, and concerns about braking performance.

  • Steering and suspension: Signs of wear, looseness, damaged bushings, or leaking shocks.

  • Fluids, belts, and hoses: Accessible fluid levels, visible leaks, and signs of deterioration.

  • Driveline and underbody: Visible damage, worn boots, and concerns around driveshafts, joints, and mounting points.

  • Lights, wipers, and battery connections: Basic items that support visibility and everyday operation.

  •

We explain what we find and identify anything that needs a closer diagnostic assessment.

Ask About Our Chassis Lubrication Service

While your vehicle is here, talk with us about chassis lubrication. It’s an opportunity to address the serviceable grease points in your steering, suspension, and driveline.

We lubricate applicable pivot points, bushings, and driveshaft components according to the requirements of the parts installed on your vehicle. Depending on the setup, this may include greaseable suspension joints, steering joints, U-joints, and driveshaft slip joints.

We use lubricants appropriate for each component and its manufacturer’s specifications. Some joints are sealed, and bushing lubrication requirements vary, so the service follows your vehicle’s actual equipment.

Ask about adding chassis lubrication when scheduling your free inspection. We’ll explain the recommended scope and any associated cost before proceeding.

Clear Findings, With No Pressure

Our pre- and post-trip inspections are free, with no sales pitch and no obligation to purchase repairs.

If we find something that needs attention, we’ll explain the concern, discuss its urgency, and walk you through suitable options. You can have us perform the work, take time to consider it, or choose another shop.

We want you to understand your vehicle and feel comfortable making the decision.

Pre- and Post-Trip Inspection FAQs

Are both inspections free?

Yes. We offer free inspections before your trip and after you return. There’s no requirement to purchase maintenance or repairs.

Do you inspect regular cars as well as off-road vehicles?

Yes. We welcome cars, trucks, SUVs, and 4x4s, whether you’re preparing for highway miles, camping, or a trail run.

How far ahead of my trip should I schedule?

Contact us once you know your travel dates. Leaving time between the inspection and departure gives you room to address any recommended maintenance or repairs.

Should I schedule a post-trip inspection if nothing feels wrong?

It can still be useful, particularly after a demanding trail run or an outing where the vehicle experienced impacts or other unusual conditions. Tell us about the trip so we can focus on the relevant areas.

Is chassis lubrication included in the free inspection?

Chassis lubrication is an additional service you can discuss with our team. We’ll review which components need lubrication and explain any cost before carrying out the work.

Can you handle maintenance during the same visit?

Let us know what you need when booking. We can discuss combining your inspection with chassis lubrication, an oil change, or other maintenance, depending on scheduling and the work involved.

What should I tell you when scheduling?

Share your vehicle’s year, make, model, mileage, and relevant modifications. Include your travel dates, planned driving conditions, and any noises, leaks, or changes you’ve noticed.
